This includes assessing all departments and individuals' computer needs, designing an effective system, and installing that system. The IT Operations Manager also may act as a consultant on issues such as upgrading the existing network, evaluating new software products for purchase, establishing compatibility with existing hardware and software products, supervising users within the company to ensure that they are using computers correctly, conducting after-hours support as needed, updating operating procedures where necessary, establishing an emergency procedure in case of disaster recovery.
