He or she compiles and analyzes roadway and signal accident records, prepares reports, principles and ordinances, statistical data, and traffic flow patterns for analysis; prepares plans for new construction and the coordination of existing systems; implements state laws regarding abandoned vehicles; oversees security operations; conducts special studies such as developing a comprehensive rapid transit plan for a city.
