Myrtle Beach Job Market

Myrtle Beach borders the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Grand Stand, a strip of land extending roughly 60 miles along the shore. Before the area evolved into the seaside resort destination that it is today, the southern end of the Grand Stand served as a successful region for rice plantations in the 1800s. By 1840, the locale, now known as Myrtle Beach’s neighboring city of Georgetown, was known to produce nearly half of the nation’s rice crops. Then, with the introduction of the first set of railroads in the early 1900s, it became easier to transport goods to and from the beach, sparking the development of present-day Myrtle Beach. The first hotel was established in 1901 called The Seaside Inn, and seven years later the construction of the Myrtle Beach Pavilion followed. By the 1930s, beach resorts were established, as well as piers, golf courses, and other attractions. From then on, tourism was highly encouraged and the city’s growth continued at a steady pace. Today, the area thrives as a top vacation destination in the United States, and the local economy has much to offer.
