Albany Emergency Rescue is proud to announce an exciting opportunity for a new EMT to join our organization. We are looking for an individual who shows compassion for others and are looking for a career providing lifesaving medical care and transport to the Albany community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate medical care and transport to the sick and injured
- Respond to 911 dispatches and ensure priority of care is given
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of various medical situations
- Assist with patient assessments, treatments and medications
- Perform basic life-saving skills such as CPR and other first aid skills
- Operate and maintain proper equipment and vehicles
- Maintain a proper inventory of medical supplies
- Document patient care and clinical protocols
Work Hours and Benefits:
The EMT position is a full-time role, with regular work hours between 8am and 8pm Monday-Friday, plus some weekend and evening shifts. This is a rewarding opportunity with competitive wages plus the following benefits:

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current state EMT certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift/move up to 150 lbs
- Successful completion of background check/drug test
- Excellent communication skills
Training and Education:
The successful candidate must be a currently certified EMT in the state of Albany. The EMT must be able to meet the training and certification requirements of the state, county, or organization. Emergency medical care training may include a combination of classroom, laboratory, and field experience.

What a typical day looks like for an EMT
An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) performs life saving medical procedures to stabilize people in emergency situations. On a day-to-day basis, an EMT responds to emergency calls, assesses patients' medical condition, administers basic life support measures such as CPR, and transports patients to appropriate medical facilities. They may also use emergency medical equipment and medications to treat illnesses and injuries, operate stretchers and other emergency medical equipment, and help provide medical care to patients in ambulances, helicopters, and emergency rooms. EMTs must be proficient in the use of all emergency medical equipment, and maintain an organized and professional workplace.
